Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you choose Centerfold Art as the name of your website?

The name Centerfold Art reflects my approach to the photography I produce. The Internet is filled with pictures of nude women, much of it is men's magazine style, and some of it is fine art. My work falls somewhere in between.

I think that high quality images of nude women are an expression of genuine human emotion, more so than just human sexuality. Doing this with an artistic approach brings far more value to the work. Combining the two is the task I have assigned myself.

What subjects do you shoot?

My work is focused entirely on nude photography of women. No dogs, cats, kids, brides, flowers, or sunsets. Just beautiful images of beautiful women.

What should I do if I'm interested in modeling for Centerfold Art?

First, you must be 18 or older to do nude modeling. No exceptions. If you are, then just send me an email and we can talk about it. Since this is photography, at some point I'll need to see some pictures of you, they don't have to be nudes, but something that gives me an idea of what you look like. Even cell phone snapshots will work for this.

Do I have to have a page on One Model Place or Model Mayhem?

No, you don't. Lots of the women I have worked with do have pages on modeling websites, but it's not necessary at all.

Do I have to be an experienced model?

No, you don't have to be an experienced model. Much of my photography is about capturing very natural expressions and movements. In fact, there are times when an experienced model can't seem to get away from the specific poses she has been trained to do. I'm much more interested in a genuine, spontaneous look, so your experience level is not an issue at all. If you've done a lot of modeling, great. If not, that's fine, too.

Do you only shoot nudes?

Yes, only nudes. Now, some of the pictures you see on this website are obviously not full nudes, but nudity is the basis of my work, and the models I shoot with need to know this, be comfortable with nude modeling, and understand that they will be working as a nude model.

What about topless only?

That might be OK.

What about implied nudity, where I am nude, but "nothing shows"?

That might work. If those are your limits, we could discuss it, but I am primarily looking for models comfortable with full nude modeling.

Do I really have to be at least 18 years old?

You absolutely, positively must be 18 years old or older. I will need to see a government issued photo ID - drivers license, state issued ID, or a passport - before we even talk about shooting. If you are under 18, do not contact me for any reason.

Do you ever shoot men?

No, I really have no interest in shooting men. My work is about beauty, and in my eyes, women are the most beautiful thing in the world.

Where are you located?

I am located in Marietta, Ohio. It's a great little town about two hours from Columbus, Ohio, or about an hour and a half from Charleston, West Virginia.

Do you work out of your home?

No, I do not. I have a very nice, professionally equipped studio in a commercial building in a good, safe location. It's on a main road and is easy to find. I also travel and shoot in other studios around the country. Either way, I do my work in real studios— no home shooting, no hotel rooms.

Do you allow models to bring an escort to the shoot?

Yes, of course. I can completely understand your wanting to have a friend with you in a situation like this. Feel free to bring someone with you.

If I come to Marietta, Ohio to shoot, do you pay travel expenses? Where will I stay?

When I bring a model to my studio in Marietta, or a studio in another city, I cover all her expenses. Air fare or driving expenses, hotel, food - everything. This is in addition to the modeling fee I pay her. And when we shoot here, even though Marietta is a small town, there are several nice hotels nearby where my models have stayed during shoots.

Do you always pay models? Do you sometimes trade time for pictures?

I always pay models. I never do "trade for" work. If we shoot, you are being paid. Now, this also means that I don't hand you a DVD that has every shot we did, as apparently some photographers do when they do "trade for" shoots. If a shot we produce together makes it to my website, you are welcome to use a copy of it for your own portfolio, OMP or MM page, or any other self-promotion use, but the only images that are available to models are the ones I choose to put online. I only release the very best shots we do.

Do you ever charge models to shoot?

Never. I am not available to be hired to shoot models' portfolios. I choose the models I work with, and I pay them standard hourly or daily rates. I pay you, you do not pay me. I will never ask you for money for anything at all.

What are you going to do with these pictures?

Primarily, I have this website, Centerfold Art, and the pictures go into the online galleries here. I also make prints that I display in my studio. I am also working with very high quality professional fine art printers to produce limited editions that will be available in fine art galleries.
